FAQ: What size do I need?

Q: I want to buy the ring as a surprise. How do I find her ring size?

A: If she has a ring that she wears on her left-hand ring finger, you're in luck! Bring the ring to us and we'll figure out her size. If you can't bring it to us, you can trace the inside circle of her ring onto a piece of paper and bring that to us.  Or download our ring sizing chart.

Q: Do you size the ring we like at or will you order another one?

A: As a ring is cast and hardened, the molecules will take the shape of the mold. The metal has a memory and, whether it's being stretched or cut and soldered smaller, the molecules want to return to the original shape they were molded into. For this reason, it's always best that the ring be cast in the mold in the correct size.  When time permits, we'd like to order your ring and have it custom made in the correct size.

Q: What if I still don't get it right, can her ring be sized?

A: In most cases, yes. Depending on the style of the shank, whether or not the shank has diamonds, and how the diamonds are set. Most rings will tolerate between a half-size to a whole-size change. Your first sizing for her ring will be complimentary because we want to help you get it right so she can start wearing and enjoying her ring, just be sure to bring it back to us within 30 days of purchase.

Q: What if I didn't buy the ring from Fink's?

A: We're happy to do our best to help you. First we'll want to inspect the ring and its stones to be certain that it can withstand the heat and pressure of sizing. As long as sizing it won't compromise the ring or the manufacturer's warranty, we'll give you an estimate for the work and tell you how long you'll need to leave her ring.  In most cases, we can have her ring sized and back on her finger in a week or so.

Q: Does Fink's size the ring or does it have to be sent away?

A: Whether it's a new purchase or one you've had for a while, we prefer to send her ring to the manufacturer as long as it's still under warranty—our designer brands prefer it this way. If it's a Fink's exclusive piece, we'll be able to size it at any location with an on-site jeweler. Please be aware that our manufacturers often charge for shipping and insurance in addition to their repair or sizing costs.
