Meet Justin and Emma!
On the 31st of May, Justin asked Emma to marry him at Wrightsville Beach; Emma’s favorite place, with a rainbow over the pier behind them and she said YES! Justin was overwhelmed that his plan went so smoothly and Emma saying yes just added to the joy. Emma and Justin met through mutual friends while attending rival high schools. Emma thought Justin was really cute, but she knew he was kind of a player so she never thought they would end up here. Justin thought she was beautiful and knew he needed to get to know her better, so he did what any 16-year-old guy would do, messaged her on Facebook.
What advice do you have for couples that are thinking about getting engaged?
Emma: My advice would be to wait until you’re both at a good point not only in your relationship but also as individuals.
Justin: My advice would be to make sure you find the one that you really belong with. Don’t rush into something like this, just let it happen organically, and it will last.
What made you choose Fink’s Jewelers?
Emma: My parents bought me a piece of David Yurman jewelry from Fink’s Jewelers when I graduated college, and we had a great experience with them so when it came time to shop for an engagement ring I already knew Fink’s would have an amazing selection. When we started talking to Claire at Fink’s Jewelers at North Hills in Raleigh, we both realized that she would be able to create the perfect ring for us.

What do you love about your ring?
Emma: I was involved with the engagement ring picking process from the start. I thought I knew exactly what type of engagement ring I wanted. I initially wanted a solitaire diamond, but as I started looking at other options, I realized that I wanted something totally unique. I showed Claire photos of several engagement rings I liked, but kind of liked the top of one, sides of another, mixed metals, etc. Claire was able to bring all my ideas together. I love everything about my ring! However, the thing I love the most is that we were able to incorporate the same stone that Justin’s dad gave his mom as the center stone for my engagement ring.
Justin: My favorite part of designing the ring was getting to work with Claire at North Hills in Raleigh, NC, through the entire process. I came in multiple times to see sketches and computer designs, and to give my input; it was truly awesome to see our vision for the engagement ring come life. I’ll never forget how excited I was to go pick it up and see how it actually turned out!
How did you tell your friends and family that you were engaged?
Emma: Justin had told my family what his intentions were for the weekend. But we Facetimed a lot of my family and friends right away!
Justin: My closest family and friends had a pretty good idea of what my plans were. However, we Facetimed a good handful of them afterwards!
